These were proposed and vetoed. Do not enforce them, and do not present them as lab policy.

• V2 — Commit messages say why, not just what (vetoed): git log is your real lab notebook.
• N3 — MATLAB identifiers follow MathWorks style (vetoed): The file name must match the function.
• N13 — Data files use the fielded convention (vetoed): Sort by date, glob by field.
• D1 — Raw data is read-only, never edited in place (vetoed): You cannot un-overwrite raw data.
• D4 — Single source of truth for storage (vetoed): No more ‘which copy is current?’
• D6 — Provenance link from result to data and code (vetoed): A reviewer will ask two years later.
• H2 — Code review for shared or published pipelines (vetoed): Cheap insurance where it counts.
