Contributing

Add a page

  1. Open the section folder (for example datasets/).
  2. Copy that section’s _template.qmd to a new file. Name it with lowercase words joined by hyphens, for example eye-tracking-2026.qmd.
  3. Fill in the template. Delete any heading that does not apply.
  4. Preview locally (see below), then open a pull request.

The page appears in the section’s sidebar on its own. Set order: in the front matter to change its position.

Files whose name starts with _ (such as the templates) are not published.

Preview locally

Install Quarto, then run from the repository root:

Pages with code

Plain Markdown pages need nothing else. If a page runs R or Python code:

  • Render it on your own machine with quarto render path/to/page.qmd, then commit the _freeze/ folder that Quarto updates. CI reuses those results and does not rerun your code.
  • Code that needs the cluster or large data cannot run in CI. Freeze it as above, or show it without running it by setting eval: false on the cell.

Do not commit

  • Passwords, tokens, or private keys.
  • Participant data or anything that identifies a participant.
  • Large data files. Link to where the data lives instead.
